Full-Care Agistment at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment operates within a structured daily management model and includes:
• Two tailored hard feeds daily
• Daily provision of quality hay
• Rug management as required (owner supplied rugs)
• Individual paddock placement with a carefully selected companion
• Daily paddock and health monitoring
• Secure fencing and access to natural and constructed shelter
• Clean, spring-fed water to automatic trough systems
• Coordination with farrier, dental, and veterinary providers
• 24/7 on-site supervision
All placements are managed consistently to maintain appropriate body condition, welfare, and routine stability.

Holiday Agistment at Mount Prospect is designed for short-term stays while owners are temporarily away.

Owners supply their horse’s usual hard feed and hay to maintain dietary consistency during their stay.
This service is strictly short-term and does not operate as part-care or long-term agistment.

Placements are considered on a case-by-case basis to help ensure the horse’s needs can be appropriately supported within our care model and current capacity.
In some situations, Recovery & Rehabilitation Agistment may be more suitable for horses requiring closer monitoring or more controlled management.
Yes. Oral and topical medications can be administered as part of your horse’s care, provided they are owner- or veterinarian-supplied and clearly labelled with instructions.
Horses requiring regular injectable medication, intensive wound care, or close medical monitoring may be more suitable for Recovery & Rehabilitation Agistment, where additional fees may apply.
All medication requirements must be disclosed during the enquiry process to ensure appropriate management and suitability.
Mount Prospect Horse Agistment does not operate large herd paddock systems.
Horses are generally placed in individual paddocks with carefully selected companions (typically two to three horses per grouping) to support safe social interaction while maintaining calm, structured management and suitable herd balance.
Fully private paddock placements are not standard and are considered only where medically or behaviourally necessary, subject to suitability and availability. Additional management fees may apply for private or specialised paddock arrangements.
Mount Prospect Horse Agistment is not a riding facility, and there are no on-site arenas or formal riding infrastructure.
Owners are always welcome to visit their horses by prior arrangement.
As Mount Prospect Horse Agistment operates as a structured care and retirement environment, visits are coordinated around daily routines and horse management to help maintain a calm, safe and consistent environment for all horses on the property.
Mount Prospect Horse Agistment is located in Central Victoria, near Daylesford, within practical proximity to Ballarat’s equine veterinary services.
The property sits in a quiet rural setting adjoining Wombat State Forest, offering a calm environment while remaining accessible for owners and service providers.
To apply for placement at Mount Prospect Horse Agistment, please complete the Expression of Interest form.
All enquiries are reviewed in line with availability and suitability. If a suitable placement is available, you will be invited to attend a meet-and-greet and property viewing.
Following the visit, an Agistment Agreement will be issued for review. A signed agreement and one month’s bond are required to secure placement.
