Retirement care at Mount Prospect follows a structured management approach focused on comfort, stability and proactive seasonal support.

Each placement is individually monitored to maintain appropriate body condition, digestive health and overall wellbeing throughout the year.

Owners can have peace of mind knowing their horse is observed daily by experienced horse people who understand the changing needs of ageing horses.

Our Retirement Agistment is suited to horses entering a quieter phase of life and requiring structured daily oversight, thoughtful nutritional management and long-term stability.

24/7 on-site supervision

Daily paddock checks and routine health observation

Over 40 years of hands-on equine experience guiding daily management decisions

Individual paddock placements with carefully selected, compatible companions (maximum 2–3 horses)

Clean spring-fed water via automatic trough systems

Two daily feeds are provided as part of Mount Prospect Horse Agistment's structured feeding routine, with up to 3 kg of our hard feed included per day

Quality hay is provided according to seasonal conditions and paddock requirements to support digestive health and overall wellbeing.

Body condition is monitored regularly, with feeding recommendations and seasonal management adjustments made where required

Mount Prospect Horse Agistment provides a standard feeding routine which includes up to 3 kg of hard feed per day along with quality hay. Horses requiring additional feed, specialised diets or supplements beyond the standard ration are welcome to have owner supplied feed provided as part of the daily routine.

Important Information

Farrier, dental, veterinary care, worming, supplements and any specialised feeds are the responsibility of the horse’s owner and are additional to the weekly agistment fee.

Mount Prospect Horse Agistment is happy to assist with coordinating farrier, dental and veterinary visits when required as part of ongoing care.

A signed agistment agreement is required prior to arrival.

One month’s bond is payable before commencement.

βPlacements are limited and carefully assessed to maintain herd balance and ensure suitability for long-term care.

Mount Prospect reserves the right to introduce a temporary hay contribution should seasonal conditions significantly impact hay availability or cost.
